Environmental Sustainability

We care for our planet and are taking active steps to reduce our environmental footprint and carbon emissions.

Sustainability from product design to disposal

With a transition to circularity, we want to address the entire Interacoustics product lifecycle from the supply of components to end of life of products. This will help us, and our customers, reach our sustainability goals. We aim to:
  • Design greener products through the incorporation of environmental decisions in our product design processes
  • Ensure sustainable end-of-life treatment of products
  • Reduce packaging materials and replace packaging materials with recycled materials
  • Optimize our transportation and shipment of products
  • Work with our supply chain to reduce their carbon footprint impact

Products made sustainable

Materials

We choose materials that follow environmental standards, guaranteeing that no harmful substances are used in your equipment.

Purchased goods

What we buy and how it is delivered to us matters - we work continously with suppliers and shipping companies to reduce their environmental footprint.

Production & Packaging

In production, we strive to use fewer materials and consume less energy. When packing your new equipment, we aim to use less packaging material and more sustainable materials.

Delivery

We work continuously to reduce the carbon footprint of shipping our products.

Use

Our product updates ensure that you can per form precise audiovestibular tests for many years while consuming very little power - also in standby mode.

End of life

We aim to label all components to make it easier for you to dispose of old equipment and to ensure material recycling.

Enhancing our environmental performance

Interacoustics is environmentally certified according to ISO 14001. Our Environmental Management System specifies objectives and measures for our environmental performance and contributes to our environmental pillar of sustainability.

The new ISO 14001 certified environmental management system is a great tool for Interacoustics to translate our passion for doing something for the environment into effective actions that will actually make a difference.

Sustainable product development

To ensure that any new equipment that leaves our facilities is as green as possible, we integrate environmental considerations into our product development process.

Product ECO Design Assessment

Each new product must undergo an ‘ECO design assessment’ before its final design, where we consider all aspects of the product’s environmental and climate impact. And most importantly how we can reduce the impact.

Aspects we consider:

  • Use of recycled plastic (most of our current products already contain 10-15% reused plastic)
  • Reduction of components that cannot be recycled
  • Use of technology that can reduce power consumption
  • Waste generation at end-of-life

In this way, we benefit from innovation and can take a strategic and considered approach to product sustainability.

Introducing recycled packaging materials

Interacoustics has started the process of initiating more sustainable packaging.

For instance, all our cardboard boxes are made from FSC or recycled resources. Further, we have introduced a 100% recycled plastic tape for boxes for all shipments of Interacoustics products.

Further packaging initiatives will be to introduce:

  • Stretch foil made of 80% recycled materials
  • Plastic bags made from 50% recycled materials
